A New Season

January 11, 2008

This week, I officially started my seminary career at TMS. It was an extremely humbling experience, probably because of the agonizing stories I’ve heard from the professors and students. But then again, I am pursuing a Master’s degree, so what do I expect? No more procrastination or half-effort paper submission. I need to remind myself that I am not here to obtain a degree, but to gain Christ through this process of sanctification and diligently dividing the word of God. So if you’re reading this, please pray for this season in my life, as seminary will sharpen me and probably cause my mind to explode…

Hi Ninh what’s going on?

January 10, 2008

Over the New Year’s Weekend, I was able to serve with my brothers and sisters in Mexico, reaching out to the people of San Quintin. We worshiped, we preached, we edified one another, and grew closer with our relationship with God . It is true on mission trips, people are blessed because they hear the word of God, but missionaries are also blessed because of the transform and work of the Holy Spirit.

To me, Christ was magnified through the preaching of the word. When my fellow brothers/sisters preached Jesus dying on the cross for the sins of His people. The result of the gospel being proclaimed caused my faith to be strengthen and my spirit to be humbled.

Another way the Lord transformed me is through the unity of our church. How beautiful and rewarding it is to experience the body of Christ working together in unity and love.

3 days till Christmas…

December 23, 2007

Once again, Christmas is over. Every year it seems like the spirit of Christmas is decreasing, and maybe it’s because of the increasing tolerance of false religions. Yes, yes, acknowledge Ramadan, but when it comes to Christmas, take it out! It reveals the direction our nation is heading, and the more I think about it, the more I want the Lord to come back and rapture our souls to be with the Lord.

However, this week as I was mediating upon Philippians 1:23-24, the Lord told me that there is still work to be done. Do you not know that I am sovereign? I will take you home when I ordain appropriate for My glory and for your good. So as for now, I joyfully await for His return, and labor for His name to be proclaim to every nation and  soul I meet.

Oh Lord, how I pray that we will speak to every soul about Your love.

Your faithfulness and mercy prove
There’s no one quite like You
So how should I display my love
For You for You for You

You’ve broken me
With tenderness and care
I don’t deserve Your gracious touch
With all I have
I’ll do my best to share
With every soul what You have done

LA Times

December 19, 2007

Today, my dad and I went up to visit Master’s Seminary. It was a very fruitful and enjoyable time. I got to see Jennifer and the rest of Master’s staff, and I’ll have to say, they are so kind, and full of patience and joy. I think I’m going to have a great time there, even though, I’ve been warn… I’m going to be studying a lot! So please, pray for me. I’m not that much of an intellectual or a scholar. I’m pretty much a below average joe, willing to be used by God to expound his Word, so that his supremacy over all things will be magnified to a dying world.

Thanksgiving

November 25, 2007

It’s that time of year again when we reflect upon all those things we are thankful for. First of, I would like to say that reserving one day out of the year to do so is a lost. You’ll miss out on all the blessings, and the joy of worshiping God through all the times he graced you with his intervention. Yes, intervention. Did you know every time something good happens to you it is because God allowed His grace to be present? Well the first thing I’m thankful for is Christ. He is the almighty creator, holy, and righteous, yet chooses to dine with me. The other thing I’m thankful for is my friends and family. They’ve blessed me with forgiveness and Christlike characteristic. I know that every time I need something I can always come to my them, and they’ll receive me.

So during this thanksgiving, I had a lovely time with my family. We had the usual Turkey, Ham, mash potato thanksgiving. Afterwards, Lam, Johnny, Hai, Xin, and myself, camped outside of Fry’s to await the big Black Friday sale. To be honest, I didn’t come for the special offers, but for the joy of being with my friends. We also meet a lot of cool people.

Harvest 2007

November 13, 2007

Harvest, this year, was awesome (awesome blossom! – Micheal Scott). It was a time where new friendships were made, and grace was poured out upon the lost. Brent, whom I respect, spoke on the Isaiah 55, and it deepened my understanding of grace and love. God says “Ho!”, listen. Come partake of me. I do not cost anything! Isn’t that amazing? Why do we buy [indulge in] things that do not satisfy? Do we not know that the God of this universe offered His life as a ransom for the sake of the elect? So come all who are thirsty and weak, and “seek the Lord while he may be found, call upon Him while he is near” (verse 6).

Jamba Juice the Cure Juice!

October 16, 2007

With the current rise of popular cafes and smoothie shops, how can someone decide where to go? On San Diego State’s campus, alone, there are four Starbucks coffee shops within walking distant of each other. So why is there so many coffee shops on campus? The reason is it suits the need of the students. More studying means less sleep; therefore, Starbucks serves a purpose by providing them caffeine to stay awake. This is the type of demand that is causing Starbucks to emerge from every street corner, especially in places where there is a high demand for caffeine. Aside, from Starbucks, there is another shop increasing; however, they serve a different purpose and it is not coffee. The shop is called Jamba Juice, and their website reads, “Today is the first day of the rest of your health”. It seems that Jamba Juice is stepping away from caffeine high and providing a more health conscience alternative. But is Jamba Juice really an alternative in a world where fast food and unhealthy preservatives dominates the food industry? Jamba Juice claims that “your body requires energy and essential nutrients like vitamins, minerals amino acids, and certain fatty acids to sustain life”, and they provide that. They continue to argue that “for the average diet of 2000 calories a day, the World Health Organization, USDA and other leading authorities recommend that 55-60% of calories come from carbs, 10-20% from proteins, and 20-30% from fats. Plus, studies shows that diets of low in sodium, containing a good source of potassium, may reduce the risk of stroke and high blood pressure!”, and Jamba Juice smoothies qualifies for all of that. Can this all be true or is it another scheme to convince America to join another pop-culture trend?

To Lita Deandres, a loving and hard working mother of two, was also skeptical about their advertisement for being healthy, but that did not stop her family from going there, especially, since Jasmine, their youngest daughter who was suffering from a terminal illness, loves their Green Tea smoothie, Matcha Green Tea Blast. The fact is Jasmine Deandres had a disease called Biliary Atresia, and she was sentence to a life of anguish, and maybe death at a very young age. But ever since she started drinking the Matcha Green Tea Blast, her health started to improve.

Biliary Atresia, a disease affecting children when they are born, and it was discovered when Jasmine was less than two months old. When you are diagnose with the disease, the tubular structures and tiny ducts that drains the bile from the liver begins to fail. Just two months old, Jasmine, a small, weak, and helpless baby, had to under go a procedure called Kasai Procedure (removing the biliary ducts and attaching the small intestine directly to the liver). After the surgery she continued to have complications. Lita Deandres said, “ She’ll periodically be hospitalized through out the year and her ammonia levels will increase causing a loss of energy and concentration”. Her conditions worsen, and was placed on the liver transplant list.

On June, 2006, she received a phone call. She was off the list. It turns out that the Matcha Green Tea Blast contains anti-oxidant that caused her vitals to return back to normal and helped improve her health drastically. Now she is going back to school, taking minimal medicines, and leading a healthy life. Jasmine said, she believes she is truly healed, and she thank God for answering her prayers.

The next time you want a drink where would you go? A healthy suggestion is a healthy cup of Jamba Juice Smoothie.
